No-Bake Slice

This is the easiest slice you'll ever make, but that doesn't stop it from being irresistable. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon.

Makes 12 squares

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

125g plain, sweet biscuits (Hobnobs, Malt-o-Milk, digestives)

1 cup self-raising flour

1 cup of brown sugar

120g butter

1 egg

1 block of milk chocolate (dark chocolate if preferred)

1tbsp vegetable oil

Method

Grease a square cake tin.

Crush the biscuits (a double layered plastic bag and a rolling pin is a good place to start) and put them in a large mixing bowl.

Place the butter, sugar and egg in a saucepan and melt together over low to medium heat, stirring continuously. Once fully melted, pour over the biscuits and stir in to make a soft, crumbly mixture.

Empty the biscuit mixture into the cake tin and press down to level the base. Allow to cool.

Melt the chocolate with the oil in a small bowl over a saucepan with an inch or two of water in it. Keep stirring until fully melted.

Pour the chocolate over the top of the base, tipping the tin to ensure an even layer. If the chocolate is thick, smooth out with a spatula.

Put the slice in the fridge to cool.

Once cool, tip the slice out and cut into squares, or cut in the tin being careful not to scratch the tin, and serve.
